Hard Knocks Forever
The Collaboration
What happens when you blend four of the greatest punk bands of all time? You get four old dudes who come together to create something amazing.
"Brian and I were sitting on my back patio, soaking up the Santa Ana sun discussing what bands and artists we've connected with over the years. That sort of morphed into wondering what it would be like to blend the talents of some of the greatest punk bands, including both of ours of course.~Mike Ness"
Blending the west coast vibes with the east coast edge, Mike Ness of Social Distortion, Brian Baker of Bad Religion, Randy Bradbuy of Pennywise, and Matt Kelly of Dropkick Murphys became MMOG and began the ultimate collaboration of Hard Knocks Forever.
Since California is home for most of the band members, the tunes started to flow from the home studio of Mike Ness. During an interview between Tom O'Leary and Matt Kelly once, Matt Kelly jokingly referred to the building they often rehearsed in as a "secret rat-ridden, loud, metal hot box." So needless to say, Matt was perfectly content to pack up and head out to California for work.
